Well Performance

Well performance monitoring involves simple methods and techniques for data preparation and analysis. Case histories using field data are presented that show how these procedures enhance available data and justify monitoring efforts. Monitoring production performance has helped identify wells where deliverability has deteriorated or reserves diminished. Deterioration in performance over a long period can be overlooked by even the most prudent engineer using conventional and advanced decline curve analysis methods.

Plotting spot gas rate and flowing wellhead pressure measurements directly on the backpressure curve can immediately flag changes in deliverability. Taking advantage of shut-ins to obtain static wellhead pressure can help flag changes in the material balance relationship (reserves). These measurements can be obtained without conducting expensive special tests, which result in production interruption. Today’s total flow meters and surface electronic pressure instrumentation are excellent sources for obtaining quality performance data.

The role of the interdisciplinary team and its impact on achieving well performance objectives is identified and highlighted by field example.

Aria can help you with running your existing and planned wells optimally. We do this by providing specialist services in key fields supporting well performance:

  1. Transient well testing
  2. Production testing
  3. Flow assurance
  4. Petrophysical review
  5. Core data review and simulation
  6. Near well reservoir simulation
  7. Well allocation
  8. Production optimization
  9. Review of past and planned well operations
  10. Tracer interpretation

Aria’s well performance team can use any data related to the performance of wells to diagnose issues and give recommendations to remediate them. We also design planned wells such that risk is minimized.
